  • Like many of van Vogt's works in the '80s, this novel's first publication was not in English — the French publisher J'ai Lu released it as Rencontre Cosmique in 1979. It first appeared in English the following year.

  • The working title for this novel was The Universe Ended in 1704 A.D. This is the title by which it is sometimes known in other countries.
